Girls in Skill Development programmes in West Bengal

Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said, various skill development schemes are being implemented by Central Ministries/Departments but the data of girl aspirants is not maintained centrally. However, these schemes encourage the participation of socio-economic groups and also have 30% seats reserves for women candidates. He added, government has also taken steps to set various institutes like ITIs for women including girls across the country.
NSDC, a public private partnership(PPP) has been set up by Government to promote private training providers for setting skill centres. He also provided statistics of centres saying, as on 3 November 2015, 5.32 lakh candidates were enrolled through 6380 training centres across the country.  As on 31 October 2015, 54,456 women candidates got placed out of 1,55,236 women who were trained in 2015-16 including 10,711 trained and 4,196 placed women candidates of West Bengal.
