Multi skill development centres to get ready by end of June in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today directed the authorities to complete the construction work of five upcoming Multi Skill Development Centres (MSDCs) by end of June  in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Bathinda to begin their maiden skill training sessions from coming July.

The Mission, which was entrusted with the task of running these centres, had been asked to tie up with prominent companies and industrial groups and make them training partners to prvide best skill training to youth according to needs of the local industry. He also emphasized on the need to utilize the services of local industrialists and manufacturers and devise special courses to impart skill training so that the students could be gainfully employed in the nearby industry, an official release said here today. Badal was informed that nearly 1500 to 2000 students would be imparted skill training in these five centres every year.

These centres are being built at a cost of Rs 60 crore and have been provided with hostels, where 500 students can be accommodated. The officers assured the Chief Minister that construction work of these skill centres would be completed by May 31 and in Ludhiana by June 30. He also informed that the training partners for Ludhiana, Amritsar, Bathinda centres had been selected while partners for Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur would be selected shortly.
