Innovation University planned on 120 acres land of HMT Watches, will also provide Skill Development Courses

Bangalore : Minister for Higher Education T.B. Jayachandra has said that the State government is planning to establish an “Innovation University” in association with the Union government on the premises of HMT (Hindustan Machine Tools) Watches Limited in Tumakuru.

After releasing a book on the achievements of the State government and addressing a press conference, Mr. Jayachandra said that the project is being prepared by Tumkur University and he will submit the proposal of establishing an Innovation University to the Union government on May 26 or 27 in Delhi.

The Innovation University will be established on 120 acres land of HMT Watches Limited in Tumakuru which has been closed from May 1. It will be the first university in the country completely dedicated to research activities and innovations. It will also provide skill development courses so that students become experts in their field which will help them to get good jobs and become a big asset to the nation.
