Jammu : The National Centre for Cold Chain development (NCCD)-has introduced twin two-day training program on “Entrepreneurial Development and Skill training for Ripening Chambers” in district Jammu from May 16th-17th and May 17-18.
The first two-day training programme on “Entrepreneurial Development and Skill training for Ripening Chambers” was organized by the NCCD (National Center for Cold Chain Development) with the cooperation from Lalded Women Welfare Society, Jammu at Community Hall, Village Trilokpur, Block Marh, Jammu from 16-17 May 2016. The training was imparted to 35 participants on different aspects of ripening as well as the financial viability for setting up a fruit ripening chamber.
The second programme was held at Shastri Nagar, Jammu for unemployed youth on May 17-18. The training was aimed at imparting education and awareness regarding the entrepreneur opportunities available in fruit ripening chamber as well as modern methods of fruit ripening, hazards of Carbide Ripened fruits and the support available from the government to set up fruit ripening chambers.
Ms. Shafiqa (Assistant Director- Department of Horticulture, Jammu) & Mr. Yogesh Kesar (Chief Horticulture Officer- Department of Horticulture, Jammu) were present in the training program at Shastri Nagar Jammu.
Training activities were designed to provide the necessary knowledge and skills tailored to specific needs of the trainees. Training approaches were selected to ensure that information was effectively communicated, and was included Classroom sessions and field visits to Ripening Units at Bahu Cold Storage, Narwal. The workshops was successfully conducted as participants evinced interest in the the learning session.
The objectives to this training project was to educate the potential entrepreneurs about the financial viability of setting up a Fruit Ripening Chamber, the Technical Standards on Fruit Ripening established by Ministry of Agriculture New MIDH guidelines and financial assistance available, financial assistance available from Indian Banks and Educate the trainees about the harmful effects of Carbide ripened fruits. Promotion of standards, scientific procedures and best practices in fruit ripening.
At conclusion, the National Center for Cold Chain Development (NCCD) gave certificates to each course participants and excellence award based on the presentation made.
