Skill Development Programme started for Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Nagaland

Lumami : A five-day (May 16 to 20) skill development programme for Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Zunheboto district organized by the Centre for Gandhian Studies and Research (CGSR), Department of Sociology, began at CGSR, Nagaland University, Lumami. More than twenty nine women participants representing different SHGs are participating in the five-day programme. Prof Lanusosang, Registrar, Prof. M.K. Sinha, Finance Officer, NU and Dr. Toshimenla Jamir, HOD, Department of Sociology were present at the inaugural function of the training.

Dr. Toshimenla Jamir talked about the importance and impact of SHG and hoped that the participants will learn and improve through the skills training. The participants will be trained on baking and food preservation skills by resources persons Atang and Naro from Mokokchung. The skill development programme is organized with the aim to empower women through self-reliance and to generate income through enhanced skills.

Dr. Temjensosang, Director in charge, CGSR, delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Athungo, Assistant Prof, Dept. of Sociology, pronounced vote of thanks.
