PM Narendra Modi to attend ‘Skill India’ anniversary at IIT-Kanpur on July 15

Kanpur: Union minister of state for skill development, entrepreneurship and parliamentary affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy confirmed on Friday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the city on July 15. He would take part in the first anniversary of ‘Skill India’ at IIT-Kanpur. An exhibition, in which a number of national and international companies, will take part, would also be held in the institute. Modi would land at the airstrip in IIT-K.

A four-day event to mark the first anniversary of ‘Skill India’ has been finalized to be held at IIT-Kanpur. The celebrations will begin from July 12 and go on till July 15.

Modi’s second programme on the same day would be a public rally at the railway ground in Nirala Nagar. An organizing committee comprising BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, MP from Akbarpur constituency Devendra Singh Bhole, union ministers Uma Bharti and Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and others has been formed. “The PM’s visit is confirmed for July 15 but it is yet to be finalized at which place he would address the public rally. We will prepare a report and send it to the PMO. The PMO will confirm the venue,” Rudy said.

Rudy also held a meeting with IIT-Kanpur director Indranil Manna to finalize the PM’s programme. He visited the auditorium and also the ground where Skill India exhibition, conducted by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), would be held. District president (north) Surendra Maithani informed that a committee has been formed which would conduct the PM’s proposed rally.
