UP Skill Development Mission tied up with UP NRI department to facilitate foreign placements for youth

Lucknow: The UP Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) has tied up with the UP NRI department to send skilled students to foreign countries only when the recruiting agency submits its license to the latter. The attempt is to reduce instances of exploitation and forgery on the pretext of foreign recruitment.

IAS and mission director of UP Skill Development Mission Surendra Singh said, “Many skilled youth in India are recruited in foreign countries but end up paying lakhs of rupees to the agents. To stop this and to give them a respectable life abroad, the mission has tied up with UP NRI department.” UPNRI will allow only those agencies to pick candidates from India who have a valid license and have submitted it to the department. He said the mission is now focusing on providing placement to students after giving them rigorous training on skills.

The mission has tied up with various job portals, SaralRozgar scheme, industries and also organized job fairs to facilitate placement. For better exposure, the government is also funding foreign trips for students to learn best practices worldwide. “Soon, we will send students from Fragrance and Flavor Development Centre, Kannauj to Grasse in France to learn techniques in perfumery,” said Singh.
