Bhubaneshwar (Odisha) : Minister of State for Skill Development and Technical Education Sanjay Dasburma on Thursday said efforts are on in full swing to ensure commissioning of the external aided project of `1,051 crore for skill development in Odisha during the year with ADB assistance.
Jointly inaugurating the ‘Skilled-In-Odisha workshop on creating future skill training partners and employers’ here with Panchayati Raj Minister Arun Sahoo, Dasburma said eight advance skill training institutions (ASTIs) will be set up to support 30 ITIs under the Hub and Spoke model to impart skill training in 12 priority sectors to two lakh youths in five years.
Stating that the Odisha Government is committed to streamline the skill ecosystem and create a more congenial atmosphere for skill development, the Minister said 74 skill development centres will be set up with an investment of `55 crore.
Chairman of Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) Subroto Bagchi presided over the inaugural session while Chief Secretary AP Padhi was the chief guest. The objective of the workshop is to position Odisha as a potential hub for skilling and post-skilling placement opportunities in the country.
