Employment Fair organized at Kupwara, J&K Minister shared programs for youth empowerment

Kupwara : Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, law and Justice Abdul Haq said that the government was committed to fight unemployment in the state and every measure will be taken to create job avenues for the youth.

Abdul Haq was addressing a large gathering of youth who had turned up, bearing chilling cold, to participate in an employment fair held under Udaan here. The fair was inaugurated by the minister earlier today.

The Minister said government has launched several schemes that will help youth of the state to get jobs.  He said government has laid special emphasis on skill development as it is key to employment. “Many initiatives have been taken to train the youth and improve their skills so that they get placed in multi-national companies” he said.

Abdul Haq urged the educated unemployed youth of the state to avail benefits of these schemes to set up their own income generating units through which they would be able to provide employment to other people as well.

He said that government has launched HIMAYAT and National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) schemes for which Rs 1600 crore are being released to accommodate 1.25 lakh youth for skill development programmes.

Many companies participated in the recruitment drive under Udaan including Apollo Medical Skill, Apollo Technical Education Foundation, MBD Group, Quess Cooperative Limited, Multicare Services India Private Limited and Ligare. The companies will train the youth in different skills and later provide them jobs in their won establishments.

Later, the Minister laid foundation stone of Khumriyal bridge being constructed at a cost of Rs 4.62 crore under Prime Minister Development Package.  Minister asked the executing agency to ensure timely completion of the project. He said the bridge would link several villages of the area and is a long-pending demand of the people.

Abdul Haq also chaired a meeting to review the progress on the development of Khumriyal cluster under National Rurban Mission which is currently under execution. The cluster of villages include Khumriyal, Shumriyal and Gundjehangir villages and the project under execution at the cost of  Rs 53.20 crore is aimed to create civic and other facilities   at par with the urban areas.

Minister later visited the house of Tauseef Ahmad Pirzada of Devar Kupwara who died in Rajasthan last week. Minister met the family members and expressed condolences with the bereaved family.
