21 Vocational rehab centres for physically disabled : Labour Minister, Dattatreya

Hyderabad (Telangana) : The Centre will open up 21 vocational rehabilitation centers for the cause of physically disabled persons across the country including 7 in Telangana State, Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya has said. Addressing international day of persons with disabilities here he said that the Centre has allotted Rs 218 cr for the welfare of the physically challenged people.

The Centre and state governments are implementing various schemes for this class he said adding that it was planned to provide employment to about 5 lakh of such persons through training and skills. Besides education, skill development training is key for them to excel he observed. It is decided to set up facility centers for this class at seven states including Hyderabad and a plan is on cards to set up a college for deaf persons in Telangana he said.

Roads and Buildings Minister T Nageshwar Rao said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is of a plan to see that 10 lakh of disabled persons remain happy in the state. Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav claimed that it is only Telangana State in India implementing welfare schemes and providing Rs 1500 pension to 10 lakhs of physically challenged. He asked the officials to form committees district wise and review the schemes being implemented for this class.
