Maharashtra education department organized meeting to discuss issues related to “Kaushayla Setu Yojana 2016”

Nagpur : Issues related to Kaushayla Setu Yojana 2016 were discussed and its significance was highlighted at a meeting of education department with the principals and teachers of various schools in and around Nagpur.

The scheme started off since June this year, mainly addressing the problem of students who have failed in three or more subjects in Standard X or have dropped out of school after failing in Standard IX. It has been facing certain glitches since then and thus the meeting took place to consider the problems faced by schools.

Satish Mendhe, education officer, said, “Principals and teachers should implement this scheme on priority. A two, three or six month’s technical course will be offered to such students. It is important to give them an opportunity to get skills and also increase interest towards studies. If they acquire the skills they can stand on their feet and earn livelihood,” he added.

The registration process too has been simplified as schools can now do it on their smartphones by downloading an app. “Just upload details of the students like their name, aadhaar card number, date of birth, photo and mark-sheet. After that, students will be registered under this scheme,” he said.

To consider the problem of tracking such students, Mendhe said, “You can either call them to school. In case they do not show up you can track their address from old records. Even if there is just one student from each school, he must be registered. It is also imperative to counsel and make them realize how skill development could change their life. A government certificate will be given to them at a minimal cost after successful completion of the course,” he concluded.
