THSC launches ‘Skill Grid’ to connect industry with trained manpower

New Delhi : Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council (THSC), a sector skill council for Tourism and Hospitality industry under the National Skill Development Corporation(NSDC), has launched a digital skill grid to connect hotel and tourism industry, training partners and trained manpower. The digital platform – thsc.skillgrid.in – was unveiled here by Arun Nanda, Chairman of THSC in the presence of industry and training partners.

Unveiling the Skill Grid, which is the first in the NSDC sector skill councils, Nanda said that the demographic benefits that country boasts of today will turn into a social problem if we do not utilize it in a productive manner. The hotel industry is constantly in the look out for skilled manpower, and there are talent being churned out with proper certification by THSC and its training partners. In the digital world, there is no better way than building a digital platform to bring them together, Nanda said.

Praveen Roy, CEO, THSC said that the skill grid will facilitate industry to search candidates for On the Job Training, Outdoor catering and Apprenticeship. He said that the Skill grid is the first phase of the recruitment platform and all partners of the NSDC will be brought into the eco-system of training and recruitment over a period of time.

More than 5000 biodatas are initially available on the skill grid awaiting recruitment. As the whole system is integrated with Aadhaar, the platform will enable the systematic tracking of trained manpower, career progression, etc, in future.
