8 Community Radio Stations to identify the traditional skills, create awareness and conduct a baseline survey for Skill Development

Jalukbari (Assam) : A week-long event on integration of Community Learning Programme (CLP) in skill development ended yesterday at the SVD house, Airport Road, Borjhar.

The programme was organized by Dr Anamika Ray Memorial Trust, Guwahati, in collaboration with the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia, New Delhi.

Altogether 20 representatives from eight community radio stations from the eastern India participated in the programme and exchanged their views and queries on skill development and sustainability. The participants were from the community radio stations like Radio Luit, Radio Brahmaputra, Jnan Taranga from Assam, Radio Snehi from Bihar, Radio Bulbul from Odisha, Radio Jadavpur University and Salesian Radio of West Bengal, Radio Integrated Community from Manipur.

Dr Chandrabhanu Pattanayak, Sanjogita Mishra, Devi Leena Bose, Dr Badab Barman and Dr Ankuran Dutta were the resource persons at the workshop.

All the eight stations will work with the youth for a period of six months to identify the traditional skills and create awareness on skill development. Each station will conduct a baseline survey for 500-1000 youths followed by formative research to develop the community learning programmes on skills.

Trust chairperson Prof MC Sarma thanked the participants for the success of the programme.
