Stating this at a function to commemorate the 154th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Sonowal said the proposed skill development centres will be the catalyst for channelizing youth power for constructive purposes. This will be a fitting tribute to a man who projected the cultural and spiritual vibrancy of India at the international fora on a strong pitch.

“Following the ideals of Swamiji in letter and spirit we can reinforce the position of India as a country whose spiritual and cultural ethos are unparallel,” he said.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi set a mission for everybody to make India a world leader and by following the teachings of Swami Vivekananda we can reach the mission emphatically. Today is National Youth Day, a day dedicated to acknowledge and reinforce the indomitable power of our youths who by following the path shown by Swamiji can make a significant contribution in nation building,” Sonowal said.

To give youth power a chance, the Chief Minister also announced to set up a separate Department for skill development and called upon the youth of the State to work on a mission mode to strengthen harmony and amity to make Assam a stronger State.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet programs of Make in India, Skill India, Startup India, Digital India, Sonowal said that all the programs have been conceived and designed to make the youths of the nation strong.

Giving a call to appreciate the Centre’s one line objective of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikash’, Sonowal called upon the people of Assam to sink all artificial differences and work together cutting across all castes, creed and ethnicity to make Assam an example of homogeneous and equitable development.
