Rs 3.04 lakh crore proposals received from 209 companies in “Momentum Jharkhand”, estimated to create 5 Lakh jobs : Skills Minister, RP Rudy

Ranchi : To promote Jharkhand, there is a need to have enough makers in the state, and that explains why concerted efforts are needed to make skilling aspirational, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said here during the Sectoral Session on Higher Education, Skill Development and Healthcare: Investment Opportunities in Jharkhand at the Momentum Jharkhand – Global Investor’s Summit organized by the State Government with CII as the National Partner.

The session was marked by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) the Jharkhand Government signed with Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Singapore, in a bid to bring world-class quality in its higher and technical education.

“Make in Jharkhand will happen only when there is quality education, skilled people and enough makers,” the Minister said, adding that skill training does not end in institutes. The trainees need shop-floor exposure. The Minister also said that today’s youths need to learn multiple languages, including foreign ones. “They must also be hands-on in IT as well,” Mr. Rudy said.

“What makes our life more beautiful is the recognition skills – specially those who are skilled stage decorators and wielders. Seldom do they get our attention,” Mr Rudy said.

He also mentioned that Jamshedpur was the place where the country had its first big industrial unit. “The first heavy vehicle manufacturing unit also came up in that city. The tradition must be upheld,” he said.

Jharkhand has attracted nearly Rs 3.04 lakh crore proposals in various sectors. 209 companies have taken part in the two-day Summit. It is estimated that there will be about five lakh employment generation due to these investments, he added.

Dr Neera Yadav, the Jharkhand Minister for School Education, Higher, Technical Education and Skill Development, spoke of the need for extending the duration of training for candidates attending skill development courses. She also urged the Union Minister to provide basic facilities in NSDC-run training centres in eight districts in Jharkhand.

Ramchandra Chandravanshi, the state Minister for Health, Education, and Family Welfare, announced that the Union Health Minister, Mr J P Nadda will lay the foundation stones on February 23 for the upcoming medical colleges in Palamau, Dumka and Hazaribag.

Sudhir Tripathi, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare dwelt upon the Itki Medico City project while Mr Ajoy Kumar Singh, Secretary, Department of Higher, Technical Education and Skill Development spoke of some new policies and vision directives of the department.
