Training will be provided to introduce them to the digital world and technology to bring them up to date with today’s requirements. Senior citizens who lack education can also explore their options, officials of the corporation said. There are programmes to make paper or cloth bags as well as marketing skills to sell them.

“There is a need to engage the youth with senior citizens. There is a need for caretakers and nurses at home for aged people. We plan to train the youth to take up that responsibility. It will be a win-win situation for both,” said Muralidhar Halappa, Chairman, Skill Development Corporation.

The corporation plans to have computers and trained operators in all district headquarters to help youth create resumes and apply to various companies and to teach them basic English communication skills.
