Madhya Pradesh State Skill Development Mission signed 42 MoUs with industry partners for two state funded schemes

Indore: As many as 42 memorandum of understandings (MoU) are being signed between state government and industry giants to train students of ITIs for skill development.

The MoUs were signed in state level workshop organized by Madhya Pradesh State Skill Development Mission to bring on board industry partners from construction, apparel, IT/ITeS, retail and electronics sectors. The mission aims to explore various avenues through which the department can collaborate with the industries to help enhance and promote skill development in the State.

Event commenced with a welcome address by Sanjeev Singh (IAS), director, Directorate of Skill Development and CEO, MPSSDM, who explained the participants about state’s vision to train 7.5 lakh youth during 2017-18. Further, he also shared that the State would soon launch two State funded schemes – Mukhya Mantri Kaushal Samvardhan Yojana and Kaushalya – to offer short term skilling courses for the youth. The gathering was also addressed by CEO’s of construction, apparel, IT/ITeS, retail and electronics sector skill councils, who highlighted the employment trends in their respective areas.

Forty-two MoUs were signed with industry partners. They included Samsung India Electronics Pvt Ltd, L&T Group, Radisson Hotel Indore, Scientech Pvt Ltd, Path India Ltd, Pratibha Syntex Pvt Ltd, Century Yarn Pvt Ltd Maral Overseas Ltd, SureVin BPO, etc. The MoUs will give an opportunity to ITI students to get trained in state of the art technologies by these industry partners.

A special MoU was signed with noted hair stylist Jawed Habib for content development and training of students in ITIs Indore and Bhopal.

Habib said, “MP government’s initiative in skill development through their flexi MoU policy will help students to get the right skill set and also increase employment opportunities for them, as hairstylist is one area which is growing rapidly and there will be no lack of opportunities in the coming years”. Samsung India Electronics Pvt Ltd, vice president-strategy, investment and corporate affairs, Deepak Bhardwaj was of the view that industry aligned skill trainings for students will help them stay updated with the technology of the sector and also help them learn soft skills required to work in the domain”.

According to GN Agrawal, additional director, MPSSDM, the MoUs signed with the industry partners and the sector skill councils will help increasing employability of the youth of Madhya Pradesh and strengthen the skill ecosystem in the State. He assured that similar workshops will be planned on a regular basis to further strengthen industry participation in Skills training.

MPSSDM also inked MoUs with sector skill councils of apparel, electronics, construction and retail. The MoUs primarily focused on conducting training of trainers (ToT), assessment and certification of trainees.
