Jaipur : The Rajasthan ILD Skill University announced in the first state Budget by the chief minister Vasudhara Raje is set to run courses from July 2017. State-funded skill university ordinance has been passed in the Vidhan Sabha recently making it second Skill University to start this year.
Rajat K Mishra, principal secretary, Labour and Skills and Employment, said, “We will introduce only those courses which will result into 100% employment.” The vice-chancellor is yet to be appointed but the department has started finalizing the courses to be offered.
The eligibility criteria would be 10+2 or qualification equivalent to the same. Students from across the state will be eligible to apply for the courses. The university will be set up at integrated leadership development centre at Jamdoli. The courses will be in the format of certificate course, diploma and advanced diploma along with Bachelor of vocational studies and Masters of Vocational Studies and PHD.
Commenting on the development, KB Kothari, managing trustee of Pratham NGO states that other universities including private ones have to start similar skill based courses in association with the skill university. “Certainly this will create an ecosystem for skill based courses. State being 10% of the geographical area of the country requires other universities spread in other areas to start this courses for better outreach,” said Kothari.
