Govt. increased scope of “Saksham Yuva” scheme, all science and equivalent graduates can register

Chandigarh : The Haryana Government has enhanced the scope of its ambitious “Saksham Yuva” scheme by bringing all science and equivalent graduates under its ambit with effect from April 1.

With the expansion of the scheme, science and engineering graduates could now also register on Saksham portal for taking unemployment allowance and honorary work, said a spokesman of the Skill Development and Industrial Training Department.

Such youth could get Rs 7,500 per month, including honorarium of Rs 6,000 per month, in lieu of 100 hours of honorary assignment, and unemployment allowance of Rs 1,500 per month for three years or 35 years of age, whichever is earlier, said the spokesperson.

Earlier, under the scheme, unemployment allowance at the rate of Rs 3,000 per month and honorarium upto Rs 6,000 per month in lieu of 100 hours of work was being given to eligible and registered unemployed postgraduates under the age of 35 years.

The scheme launched last year had got overwhelming response as 21,896 applicants had registered themselves on the web-portal by March 15. Various State Government departments like Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Panchayats, Industries, Election, Horticulture, Elementary Education  and offices of Deputy Commissioners have requisitioned   Saksham Yuva for   work and 7,858 youth have so far been  deputed to work.
