Hyderabad : India chapter of US-based Indus Foundation organized a CEO networking dinner in New Delhi underlined the need for skill development in all sectors focusing the future of jobs and jobs of future. Foundation has plans to organize its flagship event “Indo-Global Education and Skills Summit & Expo-2017” in the mid of July in 6 cities across India.
Lion Vijay Kumar, Former Governor, Lions Clubs International; Advisor, The Indus Foundation welcomed all the dignitaries and shared the agenda of the event. He highlighted the need of the event and introduced the speakers to the audience.
The chief guest of the event Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary, Dept. of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, emphasized the need to rework the existing learning ecosystem keeping future needs of industry in mind. He explained, how the machines will take jobs of present and how the “Man plus Machine” will be given importance while recruitment instead of the human only recruitment of present.
Guest of Honor, Shri Rajesh Agarwal, IAS, Joint Secretary & CVO, Ministry of Skill Development And Entrepreneurship updated the audience with the government plans to revamp the skill development ecosystem after key observations found in the existing system. He said that, the government has noticed that in the flagship scheme PMKVY, 50% of the ongoing training were imparted in just 10 job roles which will definitely lead to severe employment challenge and the government is now reworking the implementation strategies.
Prof. V. S. Rao, Vice Chancellor, NIIT University highlighted the need of focusing entrepreneurship on complementing skill development initiatives. He thanked Department of Science and Technology for their initiatives to spread the incubation culture and promoting innovations which are actually required for jobs of future.
Prof. Ramesh K. Goyal, Vice Chancellor, Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences & Research University, Delhi explained the vast employment and innovation opportunities in the bio-pharma sector in India. He highlighted how India can leverage the emerging biosimilars industry which can reduce the drug production cost by 90 percent making India drug manufacturing leader.
Shri Ranjit Madan, Chief Executive Officer, Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council, shared how the skill development ecosystem is transiting and reforms are imparted through the industry-led skill development bodies.
Shri C D Arha, IAS (Retd), former Secretary, Government of India, former Chief Information Commissioner, AP, Chairman, The Indus Foundation, said that this event is a curtain raiser to 6 major summits to take place in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata and New Delhi in the month of July. He shared the available partnership and partnership avenues to explore the networking opportunities.
