Karnataka CM to launch skill development web portal “kaushalkar.com” on 15 May

Mangaluru : The Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood has decided to give proper skill development training to about five lakh youth in the State so that they could get employed.

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis said that the department would give training to unemployed youth aged between 18 and 35 in 39 different subjects. For this purpose, it will carry out a survey and facilitate registration of these youth across the State.

A web portal in this regard titled “kaushalkar.com” would be inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on May 15. The youth could register their names and other details on the portal or in an app to be released soon.

Alternatively, they could participate in registration camps to register their names to be held by the district administration in Udupi, Kundapur and Karkala for 10 days coinciding with the launch of the portal.

Registration camp

Minister of State for Fisheries, Youth Services and Sports Pramod Madhwaraj would inaugurate the registration camp at the Board High School here on May 15, while it would be inaugurated at the Government PU College Hall in Kundapur and at the Taluk Panchayat Hall Karkala by the local MLAs.

Even after the camps are closed, the youth could register their names through cyber cafes, mobile app and at the employment exchange, which would make the portal service available. The district administration was planning to tie up with gram panchayats to provide the portal service for the unemployed youth to register.

If they did not have Aadhaar number, they could get enrolled for them at the three registration camps to be held in Udupi, Kundapur and Karkala.
