Karnataka to have dedicated Skill University by year end, Women University to focus woman-centric skill development

Koppal (Karnataka) : A mega awareness and skill development programme for women is being organised on the occasion of naming the Women’s University in Vijayapura after Shiva Sharane Akkamahadevi on June 11 this year.

Giving details in Koppal on Thursday, Basavaraj Rayaraddi, Minister for Higher Education, said that the focus of the convention would be on woman-centric skill development and women from various districts of north Karnataka, including 5,000 from Koppal district, would participate in it.

Well-known writers, thinkers, heads of various religious institutions, including Christians and Muslims, would take part in the event. Women achievers in various fields, including cinema, music, sports, would be felicitated, he said.

He reiterated that all efforts are on to establish the proposed Skill Development University this year itself with a view to providing skill development training to youth in various fields.

Earlier, setting in motion various development works, Mr. Rayaraddi said that ₹ 6 crore had been sanctioned for the construction of a new bus stand at Kukkanur town in Yelburga taluk.
