RITES, Ministry of Railway signed MoU with Apparel, Made-Ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council to impart skill training under CSR initiative

Faridabad : In the Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative (CSR) series, the Council has joined hands with RITES (Under Ministry of Railway) to impart training on Sewing Machine Operator (SMO) and Self Employed Tailor (SET) job roles, to the youth in the region of Faridabad, Haryana at Wazir Advisors Faridabad. Through this joint initiative the Council will assess and certify the successful candidates.

In the CSR series the Council has started training and certifying the aspirants in the Faridabad center, Haryana. The inauguration ceremony of the said programme was held on 19th July, 2017 at the Faridabad Center itself by Mr. Vijai Kishore, Group General Manager CSR RITES, Mr Faraz Khan Asst Manager CSR RITES. Dr. Roopak Vasishtha, lauded the efforts of the Prime Minister in bringing the Govt. to the masses and thanked all concerned in organizing such a nice programme for men and women of Faridabad. Under the programme free of cost training would be imparted to the men and women in Faridabad and would then be assessed and certified under the Job role ‘Sewing Machine Operator’ and ‘Self Employed Tailor Job Role’. Efforts will also be made to provide placement to these trained candidates.

Mr Rajeev Mehrotra CMD RITES expressed his happiness on this occasion and wished that with the help of RITES’s CSR initiative, youth ,especially female candidates at Faridabad, would get immensely benefitted and would get employed. He also said that soon similar initiative will be taken at Faridabad. Other speakers termed this as historic and appreciated the efforts being made under the CSR initiative by RITES.

Apparel, Made-Ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council has been formulated by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Govt of India and NSDC to develop Skills repository for Apparel value chain, National Occupational Standards in the industry, establish well-structured Sector specific Labour Market Information System and improvise the training delivery value chain, including third party assessments and certifications.

The Council has been given an ambitious target of certifying more than 2 million persons till 2022 in the Skilling Courses for the Apparel sector. The Council is spearheading the Skilling work in the sector by participating in the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and various other schemes of different states including the non-PMKVY schemes.
