Collector reviewed progress of Integrated Livelihood Mission, issued orders to cancel 46 VTPs

Durg : Collector Umesh Kumar Agrawal reviewed progress of Integrated Livelihood Mission campaign in the meeting held in Collectorate Auditorium. Reviewing the campaign separately for urban and rural areas expediting the campaign and to work sincerely was emphasised. Agrawal did not find role of Vocational Training Providers (VTP) satisfactory. He instructed to cancel registration of VTP not interested in imparting training. 158 VTPs are registered in the district for skill development training. 46 VTPs out of these are not interested in their work. Collector has instructed for counseling and allotment of trade to youths registered for training by 7 October.

300 youths have been registered so far. Durg-Bhiali-Charoda Commissioners SK Sundarani, KL Chouhan, Lokeshwar Sahu and all officials associated with the campaign were present in the meeting. Agrawal again made it clear only National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) and National Rural Livelihood Mission (NULM) are not included under livelihood mission but also all works of various departments which associate people with employment/self employment, for example Antyavasi, Gramodyog, NABARD, Industry department’s beneficiary oriented schemes. Durg is known as urban district hence imparting training for work like gardening, driving and cooking is more necessary. Prompt placement of such persons is possible.

It was told nearby 4000 Self Help Groups (SHG) have been formed in three Municipal Corporation areas. It was instructed to organise meeting of these Groups for orientation and to provide guidance. These should be provided good training for capability development and maintenance of records.

Zone focused livelihood activities should be conducted in Corporations. Good performance of RLM in Patan block was appreciated. For innovative thinking ADEO Selud Sandhya Singh was applauded for good performance whereas increment of three ADEOs of Durg and Dhamdha has been withheld and to be issued show cause notice. Agrawal said only training does not mean completion of work. Placement should also be provided to help youths. Hence they should be trained in trades having local level demand.

He also instructed to take information of requirements of Chamber of Commerce and industrial organizations. Collector expressed displeasure over slow pace of working of banks and not sanctioning livelihood related activities.
