Punjab Government planning to setup International Skill Training Centre soon

Jalandhar : The Punjab government will soon set up an international skill training centre in one of the multi skill development centres (MSDCs) in the state with the collaboration of the UK government. It is aimed at imparting skill training to the youth of the state.

A decision in this regard was taken during the visit of an international delegation to the multi skill development centre here. The purpose of the delegation’s visit was to take stock of the skill training being imparted here.

Advisor to the Punjab government on Skill Development Dr Sandeep Singh Kaura, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and ADC Bhupinder Singh were a part of the delegation. It interacted with the students during the visit.

The delegation members were of the view that since Punjab was having abundant of innovative and energetic youth, so the centre could be very effective in producing skilled youth for working abroad.

They said since Doaba was the NRI belt of the state, so such centre would be very successful if it was set up preferably in the region. The DC said if the international centre was set up in Jalandhar, it would act as a complement and supplement the existing centre in the city.

The DC added that the idea behind setting up an international centre here in the city was to assure that the youth wanted to move abroad could get a legal channel to migrate.
