FICCI anchored country to country level partnership for skills competitions and CoE for ToT at WorldSkills 2017

Abu Dhabi : Gold for plumbing! Silver for car dent repair! Yes.. you read it right, it’s all happening here at WorldSkills International competition regarded as Olympics of Skills. The 44th edition of the global skill championship is presently underway in Abu Dhabi, UAE. FICCI in association with Ministry of Skill Development has mounted a high power 30 member skill delegation from states like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and industry leaders to Abu Dhabi. The competition will see Indian youths competitions with global players to win pride for country. FICCI has supported the initiative in fashion design trade and mobilized Indian delegation, Govt of Kerela and Andhra Pradesh are pavilion partners for FICCI. Day 1 of the Competition, saw many initiatives by FICCI with several collaborations, exposure visits and partnership formations through signing of MoUs in skill development space. FICCI also anchored country to country level partnerships for promoting & strengthening Skills Competition & setting up Centre of Excellence for the Training of Trainers in India.

In addition, FICCI facilitated several key meetings between NSDC and MSDE and Russia & World Skills to increase India’s participation in various skill competitions in Russia & to enhance cooperation between India and Russia in World Skills.

FICCI Skills Sr. Asst. Director, Atishal Saxena told that FICCI is facilitating meetings of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Arunachal Pradesh delegation with various stakeholders of Brazil & Russia with a focus on developing skill initiatives at state levels.

FICCI Delegation also visited premier ICCA, Dubai which is one of its kind institute to impart vocational training, specifically in culinary art. ICCA established in 2005 with a capital of 4 million usd is known for its quality of training and standards. Conceptalized on Australian model, ICCA has wide array of culinary courses. They are catering to the rising demand of good quality and hygienically safe food preparation.

Andhra Pradesh state officials expressed interest to provide international exposure to their students through partnership with ICCA, Dubai. Many officials found the institute to be a good example, replicable in the Indian context. FICCI is cheering for the skills of Indian youths who are competing in more than 25 trades under the tri colour who will become trend setters and aspirational for millions of youths back home in India.
