Kudumbasree State Mission to start skill development of its members dealing with Community Development

Kozhikode : The Kudumbasree School, set up by the Kudumbasree State Mission to develop the skills of its members, will start functioning across Kozhikode district with ‘Praveshanotsavam’ in all panchayat-level Community Development Societies (CDSs) on Saturday. The respective MLAs will launch the programmes in all Assembly constituencies.

The district-level inauguration of the project will be held at Perambra on Sunday, in which Minister for Labour and Excise T.P. Ramakrishnan will be the guest of honour.

The Kudumbasree school project has been envisaged to train its members, who are mostly homemakers, in personality and skill development and to develop their leadership and creative abilities. They will be sensitized about their rights and social responsibilities too.

Wholesome growth

“Our neighbourhood groups are restricting themselves to financial empowerment and not the wholesome development of members. Hence, the project,” said Kudumbasree District Mission coordinator P.C. Kavitha.

The training will be carried out at the level of neighborhood groups, where trained community teachers will train the members in turn. There will be one resource person at the CDS-level and six community teachers in each ward of every local body. The subjects covered include Kudumbasree as an organization, project implementation, and the role of Kudumbasree in the development of women and children in ensuring an addiction-free State, fighting corruption and in the fields of agriculture, health and sanitation.

The training in these six topics will be held for a total of 12 hours, any time between October 21 and November 26.

“We provide certificates for CDS who have completed the training process. The certificates will be a mandatory prerequisite for renewal of affiliation as well as for any financial aid. Hence, no CDS will neglect the project,” said Ms. Kavitha. More subjects would be included in the project in the coming years, she added.
