ICSI signs MoU with NSDC to equip over 1,00,000 CS students on GST

New Delhi: The Institute of Company Secretaries of India together with National Skills Development Corporation will train over One Lakh CS students, members and other stakeholders as GST Account Assistants.

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, while inaugurating the ICSI’s Golden Jubilee Year Celebrations on 4th October, 2017 at Vigyan Bhawan emphasized on the role of Company Secretaries in promoting and maintaining compliance and transparency in the Corporate sector. He desired that the institute and its stakeholders help in spreading awareness about the benefits of GST and taking it across the length and breadth of the country and provide their services as professionals who can cater to GST law. While touching upon New India 2022, Prime Minister Modi desired that ICSI should equip over 1,00,000 CS students/stakeholders on GST.

To achieve this objective, the Institute has signed an MoU with National Skill Development Corporation on Thursday in New Delhi in the presence of Shri Anant Kumar Hegde, Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, CS (Dr.) Shyam Agrawal, President, The Institute of Company Secretaries of India and Shri Manish Kumar, MD & CEO of National Skill Development Corporation.

Speaking on the occasion, CS (Dr) Shyam Agrawal, President, ICSI said, “The Golden Words of Wisdom spoken by Hon’ble Prime Minister on the occasion of Golden Jubilee Year celebrations of the Institute are Braham Vakya for each and every student, member and employee of the Institute. As desired by the Prime Minister, the Institute has taken upon itself the humungous task of training at least 1,00,000 CS students in GST. In this line the Institute has taken the first step by signing the MoU with NSDC for providing the necessary infrastructure for training the ICSI students/stakeholders on various nuances of GST law.”
