Kerala Government’s Department of Labour & Skills (KASE) to kick off new courses in special skill sets

Thiruvananthapuram : In a bid to intensify efforts aimed at eradicating unemployment in the state, the Kerala Government’s Department of Labour & Skills will kick off new courses in special skill sets. These courses will be capable of generating good employment opportunities for the aspiring youth of the state.

T P Ramakrishnan, Kerala’s Minister for Labour & Skills Development, who announced this said the state government is focusing on tapping the huge employment opportunities in Security, Cyber Security sectors and train the youth with adequate courses to make them capable for the plethora of opportunities this sector offers not just in Kerala, but also in Indian and International markets.

The Kerala Academy of Skills Excellence (KASE), the skills development division of Ministry of Labour & Skills has announced courses in Security and Cyber Security. The courses will be conducted on behalf of KASE by Centre for Advanced Training in Security (CATS), the Centre for Excellence in National Security at their campus in Kinfra Apparel Park, Thiruvananthapuram.

The courses offered would be Advanced Security Training conforming to global standards to the youth in the field of Security, Safety, Fire and Loss Prevention and related areas by offering a once-a-month Certificate/Diploma and ten months Post Graduate Diploma courses under PSARA 2005. CATS is aiming to empower the students of the massive requirement of security professionals in the national and international markets and at the same time equip the students with the latest knowledge on the trends and technology in this sector. On successful completion of this certification, CATS will ensure 100% placement for the students in major institutions across the globe like offices, business complexes, malls, airports, seaports, corporate offices, hotel industry, hospitals, construction companies, PSUs etc, a statement said.

Aspirants aged between 18 and 45 years and have passed SSLC or +2 are eligible to enroll for the course. On successful completion of the 21 day training, the students will be awarded with a Kerala Government recognized certificate. The certifications are available in Unarmed Security Officers, Superviser in ATM, CDM Management, and Supervisor in Customer Relation Management.

The classes conducted by CATS would be supervised by experts, based on international standards. For Unarmed Security Officers Training Course and Supervisor in ATM, CDM Management, the basic educational qualification sought is 10th Pass and +2 pass for Supervisor in Customer Relations Management.
