Bhubaneswar : The Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) has setup its first finishing school for Electronics System Design and Semiconductor Design in Bhubaneswar. Located at 621, DLF Cyber City in the State Capital, it is funded by ESSCI and will be operated by leading technical institution – National Institute of  Science and Technology (NIST). The finishing school is the first such centre in Eastern India which will address the needs of skilled manpower. This Centre of Excellence will impart training as per National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).

Speaking on the occasion, CEO of ESSCI NK Mohapatra, said skill deficiency among graduating engineers has been a pain point for industry. This finishing school will benefit the industry by making available productive engineers, he said.

Chief Guest of the occasion, Subrato Bagchi, Chairman of Odisha Skill Development Authority said the centre will be a bench mark for integrating training, product-oriented innovations and incubations in electronics sector. “While engineering education looks into tool-based training, key is to look into specific application so that tool is utilized with right intent and end objective in mind,” he added.

Director, NIST, Sangram Mudali said the finishing school conforms with the mandates of Skill India, a vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Courses offered at this centre are ESSCI Qualification Packs. Assessment by the industry is a significant value addition and will boost employability of the certified candidates immensely, he added.
