Governing Council of Employment Bureau holds its first meeting to review skilling and ‘Ghar Ghar Naukri’ initiative

Jalandhar : Batting for convergence of efforts made by the departments for employment generation under a single umbrella, the Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said it would help in for opening new vistas of employment for the youth in the district.

Presiding over the maiden meeting of the newly-formed Governing Council of the District Bureau of Employment and Entrepreneur at the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner said the newly constituted District Employment and Commerce Bureau would be instrumental in fulfilling the promise of ‘Ghar Ghar Naukri’.

Sharma said the departments like Industry, Welfare, Education, Technical Education, Panchayats, Local Government, Banks and others besides the Captains of Industry must take up this cause with a missionary zeal.

He said it would help in providing jobs to the needy which would help in curbing the menace of unemployment on one hand and would accelerate the economy of the state on the other.

The Deputy Commissioner said there was no dearth of skilled manpower in the state adding that there was a huge potential amongst our youth to cope up with the demand of skilled manpower by the industries.

He asked the Technical Education Department to prepare database of the skilled youth having degrees and diplomas from the ITIs. Sharma then asked the Industry and Labour Department to tie up with the industry for their need of skilled manpower adding that then youth from database could be asked to apply for the jobs in the concerned industrial units.

He also asked the Education department to organize camps for awakening the youth about various schemes of the state government. He also asked the department to prepare data of the school dropouts, so that special thrust could be laid on providing employment to them.

Sharma further asked the Rural Development and Panchayat Department and Local Government department to publicize the various skill courses offered by the state government in villages and cities to ensure that the youth could be employed to live their life with dignity and pride.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Bhupinder Pal Singh, Deputy Director Employment Generation Sanjeeda Beri, District Guidance Counsellor Surjit Lal, Director RUDSET Jagdish Lal, among others, were also present on the occasion.
