Hyderabad: Minister for Power and SC Welfare G Jagadish Reddy on Friday said that moves were afoot to introduce skill development courses in the 500 residential schools set up by the government in the State.
Inaugurating the skill development courses offered by the SC Corporation in coordination with the Apollo hospitals here, he said the government was planning to extend these courses to other departments also for the benefit of qualified youths from other communities in a phased manner.
The SC Corporation and Apollo Hospitals are jointly offering one year technical course in advance cardiac care and operation theatre technician course as part of the programme. The government is spending Rs 1.44 lakh on each candidate joining these courses.
In addition to this, the SC corporation in collaboration with Apollo hospitals will introduce three month technical courses in five other streams including general duty assistants, dental assistants and lab technician wings.
The Minister said Health sector alone can provide employment to 50 lakh youth all over the country. The employment potential of the health department was equally high in the State, which was the reason for the government deciding to set up more medical colleges in the State.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had announced new medical colleges in the State recently with a view to expand medical facilities on par with the private sector. The SC welfare department is supporting the skill development activity in a big way so as to relieve the parents of the additional financial burden involved in providing much needed technical training for the educated youths.
Special chief secretary Ajay Mishara, SC Corporation MD, Lachiram Bhukya and Apollo Medical college CEO, P Srinivas Rao were among the participants.
