New Delhi : Union Commerce and Industry minister Suresh Prabhu on Monday said the proposed scheme of the Export Promotion Council for EOUs & SEZs (EPCES) for skill development of its 18 lakh employees will strengthen the knowledge base of SEZ and EOU workforce and enhance their overall competitiveness.

“I am hopeful that this unique scheme would surely go a long way in not just strengthening the knowledge base of SEZ and EOU workforce but also in enhancing their overall competitiveness,” Mr Prabhu said here, while speaking at the EPCES Excellence Award 2015-16.

Under the mega scheme, the EPCES will set aside approximately one lakh square metres worth of space at over 200 SEZs for providing incubation of start-ups across seven major SEZ and EOU hubs across the country.
