New Delhi : As part of the welfare initiatives for the families of the Delhi police personnel, especially for the empowerment of women and children, two skill development centres were launched here on Tuesday by Ms Mala Baijal, wife of Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, to provide free of cost job oriented skill training.
”This is an important initiative for the police community here and is directed towards skill building, employment and empowering women,” said Ms Baijal.
She also appreciated the various activities undertaken by Police Families Welfare Society in empowering, skill building and overall growth of police families in Delhi.
The two skill development centres have been set up at the Narela and Model police colonies, authorized by the Police Families Welfare Society(PFWS), while the centres will be run by “Skill Root Education Technical Consulting India Pvt. Ltd.” under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), implemented by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
These two “PRASHIKSHA” centres will have a total of 360 seats, and will train the eligible candidates for job opportunities in the fields of Cutting & Tailoring and Beauty-therapy and other skill-oriented jobs. The agencies involved in training and development of the candidates will also ensure placements and on completion of the course, the candidates will be provided with a certificate from NSDC.
The launch was attended by the Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik , President PFWS Suchana Patnaik and dignitaries from the NSDC. Mr Patnaik while addressing the gathering said more of such centres will come up in future as they will play an important and empowering role in the lives of the police families.
