Punjab Government decided to develop MRSPTU as model university to boost technical skill development in state

Bathinda : Punjab government decided to develop Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) as model university in the state, Punjab Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary, Technical Education and Industrial Training MP Singh on Thursday visited the university to review the ongoing campus works.

While addressing the MRSPTU faculty, Singh said that technical education plays a vital role in human resource development of the country by creating skilled manpower, enhancing industrial productivity and improving the quality of life of its people. He reiterated that Punjab government was committed to provide every possible help to the university for imparting quality technical education and preparing employable technical human resources.

Stressing on the need for creating excellence in academic research and skill development, Singh said technical education holds greater promises for national growth to prepare talented workforce needed by the modern world and to create entrepreneurship and a conducive environment for the pursuit of technical education in close cooperation with the Industry. MP Singh is also vice-chairman of the Board of Governors of the university.

MRSPTU, vice-chancellor, Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar said that the varsity was established in 2015 to give an impetus to the technical education in Malwa region and focusing on skill development, research and teachers’ training. He said that the MRSPTU has become the first technical university in Punjab to be registered under 12-B of the UGC Act 1956 making the Institute eligible for the central assistance.

Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology, head Ashish Baldi made a presentation about achievements of the university. University has 100 colleges affiliated to it and offering 78 under graduate, post graduate and Skill development courses that include Engineering, Management, Sciences, Pharmacy and Food Technology.
