Starbucks introduced ‘Opportunity Cafe’ and ‘Pathway to a Job’ programs for skill development of Saudi Youth

STARBUCKS KSA, in partnership with Education for Employment (EFE), the leading youth employment organization in the region, has introduced a workforce entry program called “Pathway to a Job” that is aimed at helping the Saudi youth fast-track their careers into the service sector. The program, centered around youth awareness and development, offers focused training and workshops to help university students hone their skills for their first job in the real world.

Starbucks also introduced “Opportunity Café” – a program designed to teach young Saudis the soft skills that are essential for employability today. In addition to offering professional skill-building workshops on employability, Opportunity Café program addresses the key challenges youth face regarding employment – from making professional CVs to giving interviews, along with other skills and tools that help the youth kick-start their careers with confidence.

With youth employment at the core of its mission, Starbucks KSA has launched programs that are centred around youth development in Saudi Arabia. Each of these programs are designed to accelerate workforce training, empower youth to take leadership roles in the service industry, and transform their approach towards their first jobs. Starbucks KSA is also exploring opportunities to partner with local NGOs and community organizations committed to change the perceptions of young individuals choosing a career in the retail sector.

Starbucks has organized 19 workshops so far that attracted 161 attendees in total – 6 each in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam under “Opportunity Café” program for both men and women. It has also organized a workshop under “Pathway to a Job” program at Al-Faisal University in Riyadh.

The programs introduced by Starbucks KSA, and its efforts to empower the Saudi youth by providing opportunities, is a testament to its commitment towards nurturing the youth of KSA and enabling them to contribute to the economy and community, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

The brand, currently hiring across the country for all positions, encourages interested individuals to apply through the company’s microsite www.starbucksforyouthksa.com. Starbucks KSA has also been continually working towards providing its partners with tools and experiences that help enhance their skills and define their career path, living by its mission to inspire meaningful connections with its partners, customers and the community at large.
