Position reports to: Joint Director (Vocational Education), DVET

Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra

Travel: 25% within state

Background about the Department : DVET (Directorate of Vocational Education and Training)

Under the aegis of MoU between Department of Vocational Education and Training (Part of Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Gov of Maharashtra) and Lend A Hand India, the selected candidate will be part of Lend A Hand India’s team and will be deputed at the government office of DVET-Mumbai.

Directorate Of Vocational Education & Training, Mumbai is committed to provide quality administration and vocational education and training services to educational institutes, Industrial training institutes and NGOs in Maharashtra State to meet the needs of industry , business to service sector and society at large. The objective of this department is i) To ensure a steady flow of skilled workers in different trades for the industry ii) To raise the quality & quantity of industrial production by systematic training of workers iii) To reduce unemployment among the educated youth by equipping them for suitable industrial employment iv) To reduce unemployment among youth by equipping them for suitable industrial, self & wage employment through well designed formal & non formal Vocational Education & Training programmes at various institutes.

Note: The consulting contract will be between the candidate and Lend A Hand India and NOT between the candidate and DVET – Mumbai

Job Description:

This position is responsible to coordinate various vocational education projects which are part of the Directorate. Working closely with the Joint Director, the consultant will assist the Directorate develop a strategic roadmap to execute the project, coordinate with the field staff monitoring and tracking, manage data collection, coordinate with external parties (NSDC, Sector Skill Councils, Vocational Training Providers, PSSCIVE etc.) for successful delivery of vocational education projects in the state

Qualification:

  • 3-5 years of work experience (private sector/social enterprise/implementation of government schemes)
  • Proven interest and track record in the area of skill development
  • Past experience of working with government agencies, especially at the state level, a must
  • Management consulting experience preferred but not a must
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Project management experience a must
  • Past experience of working with senior management
  • Excellent computer skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
