McKinsey Social Initiative looking for Program Head for Generation program

Position: Program Head
Reporting to: Generation India COO

Location: Gurgaon, Haryana

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

Educational Qualification: Graduate/Post graduate degree from a premier institution
Experience: 8+ years of total work experience with 4+ years in skilling/education sector is preferred

Skills required: 
— Must be able to travel on short notice to training locations
— Demonstrated ability to have proactive conversations with employers/Partners in difficult situations will be a big plus.

Job Overview: The role being recruited for is that of ‘Program Head’ working with on a full time basis. The Program Head will be planning and developing Generation’s portfolio of programmes and will be directly responsible for implementation/execution of the program. The Program Head will also manage a wider team comprising Programme Managers, City Managers, Placement Coordinators and implementation partners. S/he will also work closely with Curriculum and Quality team.

The Program Head will report to the Generation India COO. The job description outlined below represents a broad scope of responsibilities and may change based on Generation strategy.

Roles and Responsibilities:

> Programme Development & Scaling
— Contribute to the design and subsequent iterations thereof of existing and new employer-led training models for entry-mid level jobs with the objective of making them sustainable, scalable and replicable across the skills training landscape
— Contribute to developing the strategy for scaling up training models – how to scale, who to scale with, when and where to scale – and source and build relationships with new employers that fit relevant profiles and increase the size of our employer consortium by job group.
— Contribute to the development of ROI frameworks, tools and data collection processes for existing and new job roles and oversee the data collection process and any associated contractors via the Programme Management team

> Programme Management
— Oversee the implementation of Generation training programmes via the programme management team;
1. Ensure Key program objectives of scale, quality and sustainability are met at all times.
2. Manage and develop any provider relationships ensuring they fulfil their contractual obligations
3. Ensure programme delivery/operations is aligned with Generation methodology and standard operating procedures across the recruitment, training, transition to employment and ROI collection phases of the methodology
4. Conduct periodic provider evaluation to ensure we are improving the quality of our implementation where possible or terminating relationships and partnering with more appropriate providers where appropriate

> Develop relationships with targeted employers to –
— Ensure that all trainings are covered 1.5 times in terms of available jobs.
— Engage them in partnership mode and push them for payments.
— Ensure their specific requirements are addressed and that they honour their side of the partnership agreement.

> Manage program team involving:
— Co-developing their respective team and individual role briefs and objectives
— Detailing their work plans with major activities and milestones
— Conducting regular performance reviews in line with pre-agreed expectations and performance standards
— Providing support where required to ensure activities are completed on time and to agreed standards as well as to ensure individuals develop both professionally and personally in their roles
— Manage resource levels (part time vs full time) to ensure optimal resource utilization of people and assets

> Others
— Support in measuring and monitoring the effectiveness of Generation students, instructors, mentors and alumni on an ongoing basis in coordination with the curriculum and quality team
— Ensure all relevant legal documentation is completed, up to date and appropriately stored as per GIF’s requirements and that all team members are aware of any protocols and standards

Generation India Foundation is a non-profit Indian entity set up by McKinsey Social Initiative, a non-profit founded by McKinsey & Company. Generation India Foundation is currently headquartered in Gurgaon and is operating in 14 major cities.

The Generation program is a 5-8-week training course for youth. Currently, programs are offered in Hospitality and Healthcare sectors with plans to expand to informal sector as well. The program offers students integrated technical, behavioural & mind-set skill training, social services and mentorship.  All candidates are provided employment support. The program aims to make a distinct impact on the employer organization through improved productivity, better retention and a host of other factors.
