The Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET) will introduce the new skill development courses under the National Skill Development Initiative on January 30 in a formal event at Kohlapur city. The DVET regional director of the Pune division, C A Ninale announced the decision on Monday.
Ninale said that Direct-to-home (DTH) and smartphone repairing courses will be formally introduced in an event at the Rajaram College on the said date, for which the guardian minister Chandrakant Patil will also be present.
He added, “The motive to introduce the courses is to bring the youngsters with low qualifications into the mainstream by giving them more opportunities through these courses. Students opting for the courses will have to pay a nominal fee, which will be returned to them once they complete the course.
He further added that the Aasara foundation, a Pune-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) will conduct a basic workshop and provide guidance to candidates on how to set up a small business through their basic skills on the same day.
