Widows benefited from Skill Development Schemes


Number of skill development schemes that are being implemented across the country by Central Ministries/Governments have special provisions to promote the participation of socio-economic groups including women for which 30% seats have been reserved for the courses in government and private ITIs, said The Minister of State ( Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy. The reservation for women candidates includes widows as well. Although, the data on the widows covered under these skill development programmes is not maintained centrally. He also provided information regarding institutes that have been setup for women exclusively which includes regional Vocational Training Institutes ( RVTIs), 402 Government ITIs and one National Vocational Training Institute situated at Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
