Karnataka State Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) to help students find jobs abroad

Bengaluru : The Karnataka State Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) will now act as an official consultancy/agency to help the state’s students get jobs in foreign countries in accordance with their skill, knowledge and eligibility.

Considering the job opportunities available in other countries, the board is signing MoUs with countries like Australia, UAE, Japan and some European countries. KSDC is setting up an ‘overseas cell’ which will be officially launched in August.

KSDC chairman Muralidhar Halappa told, “As per our information, a single private agency sends 500 to 1,000 youths to foreign countries every year. For that they usually charge high. But now the government itself will act as an agency and send eligible, interested candidates abroad.”

The agency will only deal with B.Sc, B.Com, BBM, BA, BCA general degree graduates and also those who did diploma and polytechnic courses. Engineering graduates are not included.

“Once the official announcement of the cell is made, we will start registering students. Based on their skills we will recommend them to the places where they will suit,” said Halappa.

KSDC signed an MoU with the Australian Government

KSDC has signed an MoU with the Australian government to train students, who have completed ITI and diploma courses, for three months. The training, food and accommodation will be free. Besides this, the state government will provide them with return tickets. “Those who excel during the training will have opportunities to get placed in companies in Australia,” said Halappa. He said the students have to keep their passports ready before registering with the corporation. Under TAEE programme the Australian government has agreed to train Indian students.
