SUMMARY:ILO's Skills Bridge Master Class - Episode 12
DESCRIPTION:International Labour Organization (ILO) to organize Episode 12 of Masterclass Series “The Skills Bridge” on the theme \nFuture-ready skills policy: Low-income and Middle-income countries pathways to growth\, social justice and employment\nThis high-level roundtable aims to convene leading international experts\, policymakers\, and stakeholders to share experiences\, insights\, and lessons learned in overcoming both perennial and emerging challenges in skills development systems. \nBackground: \nIn today’s rapidly evolving global economy\, the nature of work is undergoing profound transformation\, driven by technological innovation\, climate change\, shifting trade dynamics\, and demographic transitions. As industries adapt\, so must the workforce. Yet\, a widening skills gap threatens economic growth\, employability\, and innovation across the globe.  \nWhile all countries face challenges in aligning education and training systems with changing labour market needs\, low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) are disproportionately affected. These countries grapple not only with emerging demands—such as digital and green skills—but also with long-standing systemic issues: underfunded education systems\, weak industry linkages\, outdated curricula and infrastructure\, and shortages of qualified trainers.  \nThe statistics are stark:  \n\nYouth unemployment globally stands at 16%\, with nearly one in four young people not in education\, employment\, or training (NEET).\nPublic investment in TVET averages less than 0.2% of GDP\, resulting in outdated facilities and limited capacity.\nFormal TVET access in many LMICs is below 25%\, compared to 68% in OECD countries.\nRapid growth of workforce in LMICs\, especially Africa (85% of global workforce increase by 2035).\nLow enrolment in TVET (e.g. ~6% of secondary students in Africa; rural & female youth are underserved). \n\nSpeakers:\n\n\nOliver Diehl\, Deputy Head of Division in Vocational Education and Training at the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research\n\n\nSimon McGrath\, Professor of Education at the University of Glasgow\n\n\nGlenda Quintini\, Head of Skills and Future Readiness Division\, OECD\n\n\nPawan Bhageria\, President HR\, IT and Admin and Education at Tata technologies\n\n\nManuela Prina\, Principal education specialist at Asian Development Bank\n\n\nNicholas Ouma\, Senior youth advisor at African Union Commission\n\n\nAshwin K. Arunachalam\, Senior Consultant in digital infrastructure\, Turner & Townsend\n\n\nNtshangase Nokuthula\, Youth Representative\, South Africa\n\n\nAshwani Aggarwal\, Head of Skills Policy and Governance\, ILO\n\n\nWho should attend?\n\nPolicy makers and government officials\,\nEmployers and workers organisation\,\nSkills and research institutions\,\nPrivate sector leaders and experts\,\nEducation and training providers\, academia\,\nDevelopment partners and banks\,\nInvestors & innovators\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW

The role and involvement of Industry is critical for bringing in speed and scale in the education and skilling initiatives of our country. To develop a learning ecosystem that is continuous and creates professionals of the future\, it is vital that the industry is actively engaged with the education ecosystem. The relationship between Industry and Academia needs to be mutually beneficial and enriching. With increasing sunrise sectors (semiconductors\, electric vehicles\, biofuels\, AI/ML to name a few) attracting huge investments in India there is a strong need to develop skilled workforce for such sectors who can be readily deployed. The session will attempt to answer the following questions: 1. How can academia and government create value that attracts the industry? 2. How has the government facilitated the process of the identifying and setting up clusters of emerging sectors across the country? 3. Absence of a single point data base for the entire skilling ecosystem has been another challenge that has hampered the effectiveness and outcome of the skilling initiatives of the Indian Government. Today\, multiple portals for various schemes like PMKVY 4.0 (MSDE) ; DDUGKY (MoRD) ; NULM (MoHUPA) ; Samarth Scheme (Ministry of Textile) ; PM Daksh (Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment) ; Seekho Kamao (MoMA) and many more exist. Many aspiring to be skilled get confused by so many schemes at different places. Hence\, we all recognise that simplification and availability of all schemes at one place is important. The ecosystem is expected to work more efficiently if efforts are more synergised. The session will deliberate on: 1. Importance and relevance of such multiple initiatives in current times 2. Need for comprehensive guidelines for all Skill Development Schemes on one platform 3. Role of other stakeholders\, policies or regulatory compliances to create harmony between these schemes10:30 am – 10:35 am Welcome Remarks: Ms Shabnam Sinha\, Lead Education Specialist\, World Bank10:35 am – 10:45 amSpecial Address Shri KK Dwivedi\, Additional Secretary\, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship 10:45 am – 11:45 amPanelists:– Mr Karma Zimpa Bhutia\, Joint Secretary\, (RS/TRAINING/ADMIN) Ministry of Rural Development– Dr Vinod Kumar V IAS\, MD & CEO\, APSSDC\, Govt. of A.P.– Mr Rajeev Saxena\, Joint Secretary\, Ministry of Textiles– Dr. PV Unnikrishnan\, Member Secretary\, Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (KDISC)– Dr. Ramaswami N\, I.A.S.\, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) \, Maharashtra State Skill Development Society Moderator: Ms Shabnam Sinha\, Lead Education Specialist\, World BankChair & Moderator: Ms Shabnam Sinha\, Lead Education Specialist\, World Bank11:45am –12:15 pmTea Break\n\n\n\n12:15 pm – 01:30 pmSession 6VIRASAT – The Heritage’ Vocal for Local: Go Global’Panelists:– Dr Darlie Koshy\, Chief Mentor at Central Bharat Sevak Samaj (CBSS)– Ms Saumya Mishra\, Director- International Business\, Beauty & Personal Care\, Myntra– Mr Naveen Dhingra\, Chief General Manager\, NABARD Dastkar – IndiaiTOKRIModerator: Ms Veena Swarup\, Former Director – Engineers India Limited and Chair of FICCI’s taskforce on Traditional Cluster Development 12:15 pm – 12:20 pmWelcome Remarks: Ms Veena Swarup\, Former Director – Engineers India Limited and Chair of FICCI’s taskforce on Traditional Cluster Development12:20 pm – 12:30 pmSpecial Address: Shri Ankur Jain\, IPS\, Mission Director\, Assam Skill Development Mission\, Government of Assam12:30 pm – 01:30 pmPanellists: – Dr Darlie Koshy\, Chief Mentor at Central Bharat Sevak Samaj (CBSS)© – Ms Saumya Mishra\, Director- International Business\, Beauty & Personal Care\, Myntra – Mr Naveen Dhingra\, Chief General Manager\, NABARD* – Dr. Rajni Aggarwal\, President\, Federation of Indian Women Entrepreneurs© – Mr Gabriel Bordado\, Skills Specialist\, International Labour Organisation – Ms Meenu Chopra\, Executive Director\, All India Artisans and Craftspersons Welfare Association -AIACA© Moderator: Ms Veena Swarup\, Former Director – Engineers India Limited and Chair of FICCI’s taskforce on Traditional Cluster Development©01:30 pm – 02:30 pmNetworking Lunch\n\n\n\n02:30 pm – 03:30 pmFire Side Chat– Mr Saurabh Agarwal\, Cooking– Mr Ramesh Punia\, Visual Merchandise– Mr Talat Razia\, Fashion Technology– Mr Mohit Dudeja\, Patisserie and Confectionery– Mr Suraj\, Autobody Repair With Mr Rashmikant Joshi\, Managing Director\, FESTO India Pvt Ltd* 03:30 pm – 03:45 pmTea Break03:45 pm – 05:15 pmEmployability Skills Workshop By UNICEF05:15 pm – 05:20 pmVote of Thanks05:20 pm onwardsHigh Tea\n\n\n\nParticipation is useful for…\n\n\n\nPolicy Advocates | Corporate Members | Thought Leaders | Industry Experts \n\n\n\n\nLarge Corporate Houses & Public Sectors Undertakings\n\n\n\nSmall and Medium Enterprises\n\n\n\nSenior Government Officials & Academia\n\n\n\nState Skills Missions\, Sector Skills Councils\, NGOs\, INGOs and Think Tank Groups\n\n\n\nMultilateral and Bilateral Agencies\n\n\n\nUniversities and Higher Education Institutions\n\n\n\nTraining Partners (TPs) and Industrial Training Institutes/Centres (ITIs /ITCs)\n\n\n\nInternational Counterparts\n\n\n\nSkill Consultancy Providers/ Assessment Agencies\n\n\n\nYouth\n\n\n\n\nParticipation can help you…\n\n\n\nShowcase | Engage | Explore | Network \n\n\n\n\nPosition yourself and your organization as the thought leader and pioneer in this space\n\n\n\nParticipate in the invigorating deliberations on skill development policies & frameworks\n\n\n\nEnrich yourself with global and national innovations\, best practices & lessons learnt\n\n\n\nPromote your Industry/ Institution and yourself to over 400 delegates from India & Abroad\n\n\n\nEngage on a platform that facilitates national and international collaborations and partnerships\n\n\n\nExplore opportunities to network and interact with leaders from industry & government\n\n\n\n\n\nClick here to Register\n\n\n\nClick here to Event Website\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA glimpse from past year…

SUMMARY:CxO Conclave 2023 by JSLPS
DESCRIPTION:Jharkhand State livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS) is the nodal agency for the department of Rural Development\, Government of Jharkhand\, for effective implementation of livelihood promotion in the state. JSLPS is implementing Deendayal Antyodaya Yojna-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDUGKY) in the state of Jharkhand. \nIn line with its mandate JSLPS is going to organize a Conclave in Tamil Nadu with an objective to take the skilling eco-system of the State to the next level. \nThe conclave would deliberate upon industry requirement of current & future skills\, explore placement opportunities\, retention challenges and to find out appropriate skilling modules which would ensure better livelihoods for the rural youth. We expect the outcome of the CxO conclave would not only enhance the better livelihood options for the rural youth of Jharkhand but also facilitate the industry to get the quality manpower they are looking for. I am confident that\, in this event\, we will jointly address all the above listed points\, set priorities\, and strategize to create the best skill ecosystem in Jharkhand. \n \n\n\nTimeTopicSpeaker10:30 – 11:00 AMRegistration11:00 – 11:10 AMWelcome Speech and Agenda SharingSPM – Skills and Jobs11:10 – 11:20 AMIntroductory SpeechCEO\, JSLPS11:20 – 11:30 AMKeynote Address IDirector\, MoRD11:30 – 11:45 AMKeynote Address IISecretary\, RDD\n\n\n\nTea Break : 11:45 AM – 12:00 NOON \n\n\n\n12:00 – 12:45 PM Panel Discussion I – Emerging Trends in Skill Development & The Future of WorkThere has been a global shift in the workforce with a range of jobs coming up and traditional employment giving way to these. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is giving way to the modern technology transforming the skills sector. The skills relevant at present are likely to be redundant in the coming future and hence\, upskilling is the need of the hour. The current workforce in the country is not prepared to deal with these changes with more than half of the prospective professionals failing to meet the employability requirements. Talent shortage of 29 million by 2030 is anticipated by The International Labour Organization. This gap will affect a lot of industries and businesses and the country will face acute shortage of skilled manpower. This session will deliberate on the emerging trends in the industry\, the requirements and how the skilling landscape is being affected by it and is evolving based on the current demands.Welcome remarks by the Moderator(Technical Support Agency-Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society)Panel DiscussionGovernment OfficialsIndustry ExpertTech ExpertSector Skill CouncilSector Skill Council Q&AClosing Remarks12:45 – 01:30 PM Panel Discussion II- Upskilling and Reskilling: Strategies for Effective Skill Development With the changing workforce scenario and rise in automation and Al\, there will be about 133 million new roles as per World Economic Forum. These job roles would require new sets of knowledge and skills\, thus bringing forth the need for upskilling and reskilling.Upskilling means helping and teaching the employees ‘new skills’ and develop new competencies to close the talent gaps and equip them to perform better in their current roles. Reskilling is about switching roles and promoting lateral learning to help people move onto new job roles within the organization. These two new strategies must be adopted for developing new competencies and in this session\, the panelists will be discussing about the adoption of these strategies for skill development in the evolving job scenarios and in-demand skills.Welcome remarks by the Moderator(Official-Government of Jharkhand)Panel DiscussionGovernment OfficialsGovernment OfficialsIndustry ExpertIndustry ExpertSector Skill CouncilSector Skill CouncilQ&AClosing Remarks\n\n\n\nLunch : 01:30 PM – 02:30 PM \n\n\n\n02:30 – 3:15 PM Panel Discussion III- The Role of Government in Promoting Skill Development and Workforce ReadinessSkilling sector is constantly growing and in the coming years\, it has become imperative to lay emphasis on the nation-wide programs for skill building. According to the World Trade Organization\, the GDP level of India can increase by 305% by 2035 if the focus in on skill development and training as out of the youth entering the workforce every year\, more than 70% are not job ready. With the new job roles\, this gap is going to widen if the strong measures to bridge the skill gaps re not undertaken. To enhance the employability of its youth\, empower them and provide them with a safe future\, it is necessary that education and skill development go hand in hand. The government has a vital role to play and\, in this session\, the panelists will deliberate upon some of the measures which can be undertaken by the government to promote skill development in terms of: policy interventions\, infrastructure developments\, industry linkages\, demand creation for skilling\, improving participation of private sector in skilling and strong and robust M&E mechanisms for informed decision making.Welcome remarks by the Moderator (Technical Support Agency JSLPS)Panel DiscussionGovernment OfficialsGovernment OfficialsGovernment OfficialsSector Skill CouncilCXO-PIAIndustry Expert Q&AClosing Remarks03:15 – 04:00 PM Panel Discussion IV – “Bridging the Skills Gap: Strategies to improve placement & retentionThe Skill India Mission has led to the provision of trained workforce for the country by preparing the youngsters through training. However\, in the face of changing and evolving new roles\, it is imperative that skill development needs to be aligned with new technologies such as Al\, machine learning\, advance biosciences etc. to build a future ready workforce. The gig economy\, demographic and social shifts are together defining a ‘future of work’ affecting the companies\, workers and supply chains. There need to be catering to industry demand and include not only technical know-how but also must include soft skills\, behaviors\, mindset trainings and digital literacy that enables the youth to be more agile\, receptive and resilient. This can be done through mentoring\, coaching\, adopting hybrid models\, promoting apprenticeships and developing industry linkages as it will not only enhance learning but will also promote retention and employee engagement. The other strategy could be to improve women participation in the non-traditional roles and promote STEM education to ensure that the industry requirements of trained workforce to work in different shifts are met. In this session\, the panelists will dwell upon the strategies to improve placement and retention and methods to bridge the existing skill gaps.Welcome remarks by the Moderator (Industry Expert)Panel DiscussionPanel DiscussionModrator – Industry ExpertCXO-PIAGovernment OfficialEmployerEmployer Q&AClosing Remarks\n\n\n\n04:15 – 04:30 PMFelicitation of Skill Icons04:30 – 04:45 PMFelicitation of Project Implementing Agencies04:45 – 05:00 PMFelicitation of Employers05:00 – 05:15 PMWadhwani Foundation05:15 – 05:30 PMClosing Remarks and Vote of Thanks by COO JSLPS\n\n\n\nHigh Tea and Networking : 05:30 PM onwards \n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Date and Time (IST)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Organizer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Date and Time (IST)\n\n\n\nLe Meridien762\, Avinashi Rd\, Cexus Nagar\, Neelambur\, Tamil Nadu 641062Get Directions

SUMMARY:13th Global Skills Summit by FICCI
DESCRIPTION:Theme: Education to Employability – Making it Happen\n\n\n\nOverview >>>\n\n\n\nThe 13th edition of Global Skills Summit’s theme ‘Education to Employability – Making it Happen’ would focus on easing the education to employability transition for the youth of our country. After 34 years since the launch of the National Policy of Education in 1986\, the new National Education Policy -2020 envisions to have a learning ecosystem that is second to none. Currently\, Our nation is at the cusp of leveraging demographic dividend\, disruptive technologies and changing World of Work. The Summit would look from the NEP lens and focus on how India can become the “Skill Capital of the World” keeping the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) as an underpinning theme. \n\n\n\nThe NEP 2020 has set the goal of exposing at least 50% learners of the school and higher education systems to vocational education. The onus of “Making it happen” lies not only on the Government of India’s initiatives but also on the collaborative efforts of Industry\, Academia\, Philanthropies\, Foundations\, NGOs and Social Sector Organisations. A joint effort by all the stakeholders will prepare the youth of our country in making India rich before we get old.   Technology will play a key role in being the strongest enabler of this transition. One of the areas of key deliberation will be the emergence of competency based skilling\, a national credit framework and the role of national curriculum framework. The E2E transition would need considerable support from National and International organisations in building capacities and gaining perspectives.   We look at employability as a critical skill to create sustainable livelihoods. The Summit will also see discussions on encouraging Entrepreneurship\, Apprenticeship and Craftsmanship. It will bring together key stakeholders to deliberate upon strategies and share best practices that helps India in developing a 21st century skills ecosystem. There will be discussions on financing models of Indian TVET and a deep dive deliberation on how a robust financing system can truly support the Education to Employability Transition in India. The two day Summit will conclude with a celebration event “VIRASAT” The Heritage which honours and recognises the exquisite craft of the Indian artisans.   We welcome you all to be a part of this revolution and engage with more than 400 participants including policymakers\, industry leaders\, state and central government officials\, training partners\, representatives of multilateral & bilateral agencies\, and students. \n\n\n\nAgenda >>>\n\n\n\nDay 1: Tuesday September 27\, 2022Venue: Commission Room- FICCI\, Federation House\, New Delhi\n\n\n\n09:15am – 10:15amRegistration10:15 am – 11:30 amPanel Session 1: Skilling in Schooling and Schooling in Skilling10:15 am – 10:20 amWelcome RemarksShri RCM Reddy\, MD & CEO\, Schoolnet India Limited and Learnet Skills Limited10:20am – 10:30amSpecial AddressShri Atul Kumar Tiwari\, Secretary\, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship11:30 am – 12:00 pmTea Break\n\n\n\n12:00pm – 01:00pmSpecial Session with Hon’ble Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship12:00pm – 12:07pmWelcome AddressMr Subhrakant Panda\, Senior Vice President\, FICCI & MD\, Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA)©12:07pm –12:17pmTheme AddressMr Manish Sabharwal\, Chair\, FICCI Skill Development Committee (SDC) and Chairman & Co-Founder\, Teamlease Services Ltd. ©12:17pm – 12:25pmSpecial AddressMr Ashutosh Gupta\, Country Manager\, India at LinkedIn12:25pm – 12:35pmVision AddressMr T.V.
