UNDP, IIE, Ministry of Youth and United Nations Volunteers jointly organized first of its kind Conference on Social Entrepreneurship and Skill Development in North-East

Jalukbari : The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) and the United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) jointly organized a one day ‘Regional Conference on Promoting Social Entrepreneurship and Skill Development amongst the Youth in the North-East Region’ on the IIE premises.The regional conference aimed at broadening the understanding of the role of skill building and social entrepreneurship among the youth from the north-east India.

The objectives of the conference was to discuss the current opportunities and challenges for promoting social entrepreneurship and skill development among the youth, identify the various skill development and social entrepreneurship initiatives of the government and institutions, recommend measures to effectively promote the skill development and social entrepreneurship initiatives in various sectors in the context of the North East.

Around 250 officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Ashoka Foundation, Yonus Social Business, National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), IIE, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UN Volunteers (UNV), government and non-government delegates, academicians, young entrepreneurs, the NSS and NYKS officials and volunteers, college and university faculties, and students participated in the conference.

As part of the conference, an exhibition by young entrepreneurs was organised on the IIE campus. Twenty three entrepreneurs of the region displayed their products at the exhibition.
