Evolve action plan for skill development as per local needs: Andhra CS

Amaravati : Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar directed officials to formulate action plan to provide skill development training to the unemployed youth, keeping in mind the local needs.

He held a review meeting with officials in the secretariat here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kumar said the Centre had kept ready sufficient funds for skill development programmes and asked him to prepare strategies to impart training to the unemployed youth.

Special Chief Secretary R P Shishodia said imparting vocational training to 6 lakh unemployed youth was set as a target in four years from 2014 and about 3.34 lakh youth had been imparted vocational training so far and of which 48,000 youth had been provided employment.

AP Technology Development Corporation Managing Director Sambashiva Rao said that unemployed youth would be imported skill development training in 20 sectors including, construction, agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, automotive, power and electronics, hospitality and tourism.
