Maharashtra Govt To Empower Physically Challenged Youth with Skills & Employment

Nagpur: Maharashtra govt has signed an MoU with Youth For Jobs organization to create jobs through skills and self-employment opportunities for physically challenged youths of Vidarbha and Marathwada. The MoU signed on Wednesday at Mumbai will eventually expand its scope of work to the entire state.

Over next five years, the state will issue Unique Disability ID(UDID) cards to registered disabled individuals, facilitating access to govt schemes and job opportunities.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized the govt’s commitment to empowering physically challenged youth through skill development and employment programmes. “The govt is actively implementing policies for the welfare of disabled individuals, and voluntary organizations are also contributing to their uplift,” Fadnavis stated.

In its initial phase, ‘Youth for Jobs’ will assist the govt in Vidarbha and North Maharashtra, working in collaboration with district administrations to identify employment opportunities for the physically challenged. Youth for Jobs has already collaborated with the Central govt and Gadchiroli district administration to successfully train and place differently abled in various industries.

The initiative will focus on skill-based training tailored to different disabilities. The state govt said job fairs will be conducted to connect trained individuals with private sector employers such as Lifestyle International, Aditya Birla Fashion, Reliance Trends, IIFL, Lax Hospital, Milan Coffee House, HPCL, BPCL, and several other organizations.

Additionally, self-employment options will be made available for those unable to secure traditional jobs, ensuring their economic participation. To ensure they benefit from govt schemes, a comprehensive registration drive is underway, and UDID cards are being issued to eligible individuals. The govt is
working to create a robust database to track and support disabled individuals effectively. Chief Minister Fadnavis expressed confidence that local voluntary
organizations would also come forward to contribute, strengthening the impact of this employment drive.
