YEIDA to establish a skill development center under Yogi Adityanath 100-day plans

Greater Noida : A skill development institute to train the rural youth of the region to make them employable in industries will take shape in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area. Arunvir Singh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), YEIDA on Tuesday said that the Authority has proposed the project in the 100-day plan sent to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath earlier this month.

According to YEIDA officials, lack of trained labour is a major issue for entrepreneurs coming to the region to set up shop. “Launch of a skill development centre will address the problem as it will provide vocational skills tailor-made for the industry and make youth fit for immediate absorption,” Singh told. “Youth will be imparted skills in various disciplines — from handling to working in floor shops and other skills needed for the manufacturing sector,” he explained.

Singh further stressed the importance of developing skills of youth to deal with unemployment and said training the young workforce was the only way to ensure their employability. “To start with, the centre will train about 500 youth. But this will be scaled up depending on the requirement of the industrial area,” he said. “The target group for training are children of farmers who have sold their land to tide over financial difficulties or have abandoned agriculture perceiving it to be less lucrative,” he said. “With several Electronic Manufacturing Clusters and other industries including a pharma hub across 100 acres setting up shop in YEIDA region, the center is likely to do be very popular,” he added.

As per Singh, the project will come up in sector 33 of YEIDA area. “We have earmarked about one acre of land for the project, which will be supported by the National Productivity Council of India,” he said. “Once construction starts, the project will be completed in about 18 months,” he added. “Once we have the formal go-ahead from the state government, tenders will be initiated for the project,” the CEO said.
