Guwahati : Describing Assam and the entire North East as a reservoir of talent and resources, Vandana Luthra, one of the top woman entrepreneurs of the country and founder of VLCC, asserted that the company’s Rs 28 crore investment in the State will ensure skill development and employability.
Addressing media persons in Guwahati on Wednesday, the entrepreneur said that a host of factors including the huge pool of talent prompted this investment in a new manufacturing unit in the State.
“The installed capacity of the unit will be 86.41 million units per annum. We are hopeful of our new unit becoming functional within a year and a half,” said Vandana, adding that another 15 vocational training institutes will be set up in the region. According to Vandana, this new manufacturing unit is a testament to the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, while adding to the State’s industrialization.
“Assam is to become pivotal in skilling the youth of North East in beauty and wellness industry. Apart from creating a base of a skilled generation, we are also aiming at creating more woman entrepreneurs in the region,” said Vandana, observing that Assam has been on a robust growth path.
On the other hand, this renowned entrepreneur pointed out that opportunities of employment in the beauty and wellness industry are immense, with people becoming more conscious about their health and holistic welfare to cope with the challenges of the stressful times.
“Beauty and wellness is a lucrative segment, and through training , the youth of the region can further enhance their employability,” said Vandana.
