Jalandhar : Huawei Technologies, a multinational networking and telecommunications company, launched its first edition of ICT Skill Competition at IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala.
This is first of its kind competition held across 21 countries worldwide. The aim behind organizing the event is to tap the talent pool in various universities and colleges across the country. The top three students, who will establish a factory on maximum points, will represent the country at the Global ICT finals in China. Dean Dr AP Singh motivated the students to participate in these kind of competitions.
He said participation in such competitions was a step forward into the professional world. Derek Hao, president, Huawei India Enterprise business group, India, said, “Huawei’s mission is to work in alignment with the government to develop a robust ICT ecosystem, and a core element of this agenda is to support and nurture the young talent. We are certain that this initiative will develop digital abilities of the students, strengthen cooperation between Huawei Telecommunications and universities, improve students’ interest in understanding the ICT industry better.
”Deputy Director Navdeepak Sandhu said the event would provide national and international exposure to the participants that would help them in securing placements. Such competitions boost the confidence of the participants, helps in self evaluation and bring holistic growth in them, he added.
