Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council engaged Industry Experts for developing four New Qualifications

Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council is soon launching the four New Qualifications in the current financial year. These are namely Bioinformatics Associate/ Analyst, Bioinformatics Scientist, Effluent Treatment Plant Operator, Pharmacovigilance Associate.

Two of the new qualifications are targeted to the future skills required by Life Sciences Industry using Big Data technologies as an impact of Industry 4.0, which have evolved the Bioinformatics occupation from a niche or rare job role in Drug Discovery department to a larger business segment in itself in the Life Sciences Industry. Out of the two Bioinformatics Analyst is a high demand job role with a 50% YoY rise in the fresh Skill resource requirement in the Industry.

The Effluent Treatment Plant Operator is a much asked skill set with rising concerns on the water pollution due to process industries especially Life Sciences Industry. With stricter audits from foreign and Indian regulators demand the skills more than just plant operations. Hence in the current scenario this qualification will help Industry to get a job ready resource.

The Pharmacovigilance Associate is a job role in the highest demand by Industry with the increased reach of Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). LSSSDC had been in consultation with PvPI since 2017 to draw the national occupational standards for Pharmacovigilance Associate and finally is achieving its goal.
