National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) recently launched road show ‘Skill Connect’ which intends to enhance awareness and participation of industry in the Skill development agenda with a special focus on apprenticeship.
After it’s successful launch on July 30 by Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Minister Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, the interactive sessions have been started in various cities and locations. The first interactive session was held in Faridabad followed by second in Haridwar.
The event marked the successful beginning of the tour, which will be held across more than 25 locations across India to promote industry participation in Apprenticeship Programme.
The road show workshops received an overwhelming response from various stakeholders like local industry associations, sector skills councils and their training partners whereas the workshop event had participation of senior officer from Regional Directorate of Apprenticeship Training (RDAT) Faridabad.
During the first workshop session, besides senior officers from Directorate General of Training (DGT), State Skill Development Mission also participated. Mr. Jayant Krishna, COO – National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), responded to the various issues raised by the industry with respect to the Apprenticeship Training Operational framework recently launched by the NSDC. Coordinated by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), these events witnessed a highly-interactive session.
The organizations addressed the issue of rising skill gap, lack of skilled manpower and apprenticeship training. NSDC appealed the associations to avail the benefits of the Apprenticeship Programme launched to conform to “Skill India” mission of the Government of India.
By means of interactive activities, the members present had the opportunity to discuss and present all types of challenges faced by the, with regards to skilling of youth and get response from the organizers on the same. Several clusters where Apprenticeship programmes can be offered were identified and discussed after taking inputs from the participating members. The workshop ended with promise from the side of the industry to remain connected to the NSDC for enhancing their participation in training of youth through Apprenticeship Training.
